Advisor Kumar reviews implementation of youth outreach action plan

SRINAGAR, July 31: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today chaired a meeting to review the action plan chalked out by the Special Task Force constituted to oversee the youth engagement program launched by various departments.
Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam were also present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmed Khan gave a brief presentation about the action taken report of Divisional Level Task Force and the inputs received from the districts of Kashmir division regarding availability of infrastructure in the districts.
He also informed that the directions were given to all the Deputy Commissioners to constitute District Level Task Force involving officers from District Youth Services & Sports, Education, Sports Council, Rural Development Department and other concerned.
It was informed that the District Level Task Forces were directed to formulate comprehensive, holistic and integrated district-level sports activity plan and prepare a calendar for youth engagement programmes and sports activities.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma also attended the meeting via video conferencing and briefed about the action plan of Divisional Level Task Force Jammu and initiatives to be taken under the plan.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam asked the Deputy Commissioners to involve police setup in the action plan for its effective implementation and for friendly police public relations. He said that the youth must be given all possible opportunities to participate in the sports activities.
While addressing the participants, Advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai asked the DCs to ensure that they have prepared measurable action plan involving large number of youth in the activities.
He asked for taking up as many as activities in the district encouraging more people to join the sports for better physical and mental health.
There are plethora of activities being carried out by Youth Services & Sports at school level and Sports Council on other hand contributing in involving youth in various sports activities, Advisor Ganai said adding that focus should also be laid on creating state of art sports infrastructure and every district should have this kind of facility to attract youth for their involvement and also in opting sports as their career.
Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar while discussing the Action Plan of Divisional and District Level Task Forces expressed satisfaction over the strategy that is being chalked out by the Deputy Commissioners for the engagement of youth in sports and other co-curricular activities.
He stressed that to achieve better results, local sportspersons/icons need to be roped in for encouraging or inspiring youth by inviting them as guests in sports activities which have been organized in the district level and by utilizing their services.
