| Commission's official website out of order; authority unmoved | | JKSHRC defies Govt order | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir State Human Right Commission (JKSHRC) seem to have thrown the order of the government making mandatory for all statutory bodies to update their websites into the bin as Commission's official website is out of order since Oct 18.
Arvind Sharma, a social activist told Early Times that previous month Governor's administration had ordered that the official websites of the government departments should be updated regularly.
"Updating website is a recurring task, which needs to be looked alter regularly by the designated Officers/Officials of the concerned departments," reads the order issued by government.
Administrative Secretaries of all the departments had been directed to personally monitor their departmental websites. For any assistance regarding website hosting and other related issues, the departments had been asked to contact officials of NIC but astoundingly the officials of the commission have failed to take up the matter with NIC officials despite lapse over a week.
It is pity that despite periodical circulars by the government to all departments, there has been slackness on part of the officials concerned. For example Health and Medical Education Department website has not been updated for months and outdated and misleading information has been posted. It shows Dr. Pawan Kotwal as the Principal Secretary of the department while Atul Dulloo is currently holding the position. Further, the names and contact numbers of Medical Superintendents, Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers and other officers who had been retired, transferred or promoted from the posts years back, have been displayed.
Similarly, websites of School Education Department, Public Health Department, Power Development Department, Tourism Department and many others have not been updated regularly. |
