GMC violates its own circular, administration in slumber | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 24: The famous phrase 'One step forward two step back' aptly fits with officials of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu as the authorities are busy in issuing new circular while the old ones, which were issued back, are being violated with impunity but the administration is least brothered. Sources within GMC told Early Times that a few months ago a circular was reissued by the management of the institute in which clinical doctors were asked to stop private practices during Emergency and Out Patient Department (OPD) duty but in the absence of monitoring, the reissued circular once again is being violated by the doctors of the GMC Jammu and its associated hospitals. "Owing to poor administration, the doctors are continuing with their private practices without any fear during the emergency and OPD duty. The doctors from Medical Officer (MO) to Head of the Department (HOD) of the various departments," sources stated, adding that the issue was brought to notice of the concerned higher authority as well as parental department but it seems all in deep slumber or don't have enough courage to stop the influential doctors. Surprisingly, sources added the circulars, rules and regulations are being violated by some doctors as per their interest for the last many years with the help of concerned authority. A senior doctor seeking anonymity said the private practice of the doctors is ruining the GMC Jammu for last many years and due to this the institute which was known for one of the best institutes in the state now it has lost its image and the same is deteriorating day by day. "Now, some doctors are just securing their personal interest by asking patients to visit the private clinic or outside the state. They are also helping big hospitals to run their business. If they (higher ups) really want to improve the image the institute, some corrupt officials should be removed and a complete ban on the private practice is imposed," the doctor said. |
