JU students protest over SAC decision on teaching posts | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: Scholars and students of the Jammu University (JU) today blocked the busy university road to protest the recent decision of the State Administration Council (SAC) on the conversion of various posts of teachers in the Education Department. The protesters raised slogans against the state administration, demanding immediate revocation of its decision, saying it would "affect" the prospects of educated youth of the state. "We want immediate revocation of the SAC decision which was aimed at adjusting teachers engaged under Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) scheme against the advertised posts of teachers. We are not against ReT teachers and those who have been regularised under the scheme but it will end the prospects of educated youth of the state," said Mashkoor Ilahi Khan, while addressing the protesters. She claimed that around 28,000 posts of teachers were to be filled in the state but the recent decision of SAC had jeopardised their prospects. "According to the order, ReTs and regularised ReTs will be adjusted against these posts and their posts will be filled only in case of casualty or death of an ReT and regularised ReT. Besides, the SAC order has called for the conversion of 4,500 non-teaching posts into teaching posts to accommodate regularised ReTs which is an injustice with educated youth," Khan said. The protesters insisted for a meeting with Governor Satya Pal Malik and immediate revocation of the SAC order. |
