Pakistan starts direct talks with Hurriyat, JK Govt silent | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 30: While terrorism and the ceasefire violations from Pakistan have only intensified leading to more bloodshed on the border, LoC and in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the enemy country has started directs talks with the Hurriyat Conference but the state government is silent. Officials said the Jammu and Kashmir government should have filed a police case against the Hurriyat for holding direct talks with terror-sponsoring Pakistan but that the concerned are silent. "It's a case of sedation that you hold talks with the enemies of the country known for spreading terror," the officials said. Pakistan has yet again poked its nose in Kashmir when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the state in the coming days. On the 29th January, Pakistan's foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on phone and discussed with him "Islamabad's efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue." While the Indian government didn't immediately react, the Pakistani government formally gave details of the talks immediately after the phone call was made. The foreign office said Qureshi spoke with Mirwaiz and "discussed with him the efforts of Pakistan's government to highlight the Kashmir issue." "Qureshi also mentioned the June 2018 report issued by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and a report of the UK Parliament," the FO said in a statement. The statement issued from the Pakistan Foreign office didn't even refrain from further provocation that "India should permit the visit of the Commission of Inquiry, as envisaged in both reports." Officials said such talks where separatists have spoken directly to Pakistan needs to be investigated and that the police should have filed a case. "But till now more than 24 hours have passed and police are yet to file any case," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the state government would discuss the matter with New Delhi. "Anything that needs to be done by the state will be decided only after the union government makes a formal statement in this regard," said a senior official. It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan has held talks with Hurriyat when security forces are fighting militancy. |
