JAMMU, Jan 30: Employment Information Cum Advisory Bureau (EIAB), Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu in collaboration with College Career Counseling and Guidance Cell organized one day Career Counselling Programme. Principal, faculty and large number of students attended the programme. The programme was held under the supervision of Dr. Kavita Suri, Director, DLL University of Jammu. It was inaugurated by the principal of the college, Prof. Kuldeep Singh Koushal, who in his speech stressed on the need of such type of programmes for the benefit of students. He further exhorted the students to decide their future course on the basis of their personal capabilities, potential and aptitude and explore new paths instead of succumbing under pressure and making the unsuitable selection of careers. The special resource persons were Dr. Virender Koundal, Sr. Asstt Prof., Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Dr. Garima Gupta, Senior Assistant Prof., Department of English, University of Jammu and Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL, JU. Dr. Virender Koundal, in his presentation, apprised the students about career options/ Job Opportunities in Economics. He also informed about various competitive examinations with their important dates. Dr. Garima Gupta informed the students about various career options in English after graduation and Post Graduation. She stressed that target should be clear and well- defined and students should focus on honing their skills especially communication skills to be achievers in the job market. Students were also apprised about various online courses (SWAYAM) which they can opt in future. Dr. Rewa Khajuria introduced the resource persons and explained the importance of career counseling programmes. Prof. Ritu Dewan, welcomed the guests. Dr. Seema Jamwal, Associate Prof., GDC Bishnah coordinated the programme and concluded the sessions with a vote of thanks. Senior faculty present on the occasion was Dr. Alka Sharma, Prof. Anuradha, Prof. Moni Mehra, Prof. Bhavana Jamwal, Prof. Mohd. Qayoom, Prof. Priyanka Mahajan and Prof. Nasar Ahmed. |
