PMGSY schemes in serious trouble in J&K
GoI refuses to release fund for land acquisition cases in the schemes

Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 4: Ever since the Government of India has (GoI) has refused to release additional funds for the land acquisition cases in the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Yojana (PMGSY), the scheme has come under serious trouble in State as due to non disposal of land compensation cases many projects are laying withheld.
The State Government is in total incapacity to dispose of land acquisition cases due to paucity of funds, which has been creating financial obstruction in smooth functioning of the scheme. "As per PMGSY guidelines, the Government of India is not liable to release funds for land, forest and other structure compensation cases in the scheme as it is the duty of the State Government to bear the expense but under special case, the concerned Ministry used to release fund for compensation cases in this scheme but from current financial year, the center has refused to pay the fund further," sources in the department told Early Times.
They further said that earlier center government released funds for compensation cases up to the projects sanctioned under Phase 1-9 but now the projects under Phase 10-12 are not being able to take off due to unavailability of funds. "Although State government allocated Rs 50 crore from State Plan this year for land compensation cases but the amount is so meager that hardly few such cases can be disposed off," they informed further adding that for executing roads projects for Phase 11 around Rs 1200 crore needed and hundreds of crore are needed for Phase 12 for disposal of compensation cases which has become headache for State Government which likely to put adverse affect on the functioning of scheme.
"If the situation remains same, there is every possibility that scheme may face its closure in the State because the State Government is not in position to pump such a huge amount for disposal of land acquisition cases for this scheme due to which a very slow work is taking place on the ground," they said.
