Schools covered under 6-8 feet of snow; students' lives at risk. | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 19 : Premises of dozens of schools in remote villages of the city remain covered in snow, which are forcing children to stay at home. After three-month-long winter vacations, schools reopened on Monday, but snow has not been removed from many schools in remote areas and the students are made to go through these rough conditions. As far as the education department is concerned, there has been no survey before starting the fifth session of education. The school officials must have gone for a complete survey to see which schools are feasible for the opening as most schools are in the far-flung districts. Roads lead to the school are covered with snow and hence it's not still safe for students to come and have access to education. Reportedly, The school buildings are covered with heaps of snow and the students attending the classes fear that these conditions could lead to a disaster. Meanwhile, the students and teachers are blaming the Education Department for showing very little concern for the student's safety. This apathy is, unfortunately, is leading to the students being forced to take a lot of risks to continue studying in these schools. here are areas where the snow levels are around 6-10 feet and school buildings are not even visible. Yet the students are made to go through these rough conditions. Mirror Now is highlighting that there is an immediate need for the school officials to take stock of the situation and weigh in the perils, even shut the institutions till snow levels come down or shift the schools to safer premises. Moreover, there are no proper seating arrangments in the class. There is a lot of work that the school department needs to do, but nothing has been done so far, says the Mirror Now report. |
