Omar calls Shah Faesal agent, Sajad pities former CM's thinking | Kashmir centric politicians fight it out in open | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 19: Bureaucrat turned politician Shah Faesal floating his own party, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, has triggered a war of words in Kashmir. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah has alleged that New Delhi is grooming Faesal to cut the votes of the regional parties in Kashmir. He has accused him (Faesal) of being proxy of BJP in Kashmir. Chairman of the Peoples Conference Sajad Gani Lone while reacting to Omar's statement said, "Do we have to give power to Omar Abdullah after Maharaja Hari Singh. Should there be no other party except NC. Do they have a copyright? Omar Abdullah is not a kid. He is putting lives of other people at stake. If Shah Faesal had joined National Conference, then for Omar, he was a good person. Now he has launched his own party, so he becomes Delhi's agent. I pity his thinking." An analyst while talking to Early Times said that Kashmir centric politicians are feeling insecure and they are giving vent to their anger by leveling allegations against each other. "Omar Abdullah has realized that winning elections won't be a cakewalk and competition is becoming tougher with each passing day. He is aware about the fact that Sajad Lone and Shah Faesal are both from north Kashmir and their candidates will hamper the prospects of the NC candidates," the analyst added. An insider said that former MLA with separatist leanings Er Rasheed met NC vice-president Omar Abdullah and has assured him that he would support the NC's candidate in north Kashmir. Formal announcement in this regard is likely to be made soon, the insider added. A Kashmir watcher said that Omar Abdullah is acting like a "cry baby" and is blaming everyone for his failures. "National Conference despite being the oldest party in Kashmir failed to win any parliamentary seat in the Valley in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. National Conference got decimated in the 2014 assembly polls held in the same year. Its tally got reduced from 28 to 15 seats. Omar seems to have realized that this time also the chances of his party are not that bright as new faces are capable of turning the tables on him and his party." He said that worst fears of Kashmir centric politicians are coming true. "Politicians like Omar Abdullah have realized that if they don't win the elections they would become irrelevant and can disappear from the scene. One fails to understand why Omar is so nervous and angry," the Kashmir watcher added. |
