ABVP organizes seminar on 'Strong Democracy, Strengthened India' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 19: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today organized a seminar on the topic 'Strong Democracy, Strengthened India' (Mazboot Loktantra Sashakt Bharat). The seminar was addressed by Advocate Opinder Krishan Jalali (Senior Advocate and Former Advocate General of JKHC), Prof Vivek Kumar (President, Swami Vivekananda Chair Central University of Jammu) and Vikrant Khandelwal (North Zone Organizing Secretary, ABVP). While addressing the gathering, Advocate Opinder Krishan Jalali said that there are various forms of democracy in the world, in which India has lived this democratic set up for more than 70 years now. Today there is an equal participation of all communities in India in this democratic set up and in Jammu and Kashmir the historical 73rd and 74th Amendment have been implemented in part under the Governor Rule of Satyapal Malik. Prof Vivek highlighted about the historic perspective of today's Democracy. The evolution of democracy in India was highlighted by him. He said that congress until 1967 enjoyed the fruits of government and had ruined the democratic set up, they used the democratic set up and the administrative set up in the favour of a family. Vikrant Khandelwal while adressing the gathering said that ABVP has taken the driving seat of strengthening the democratic set up of this country. He said ABVP not only talks of rights of the citizens but also the duties associated with the rights. |
