JAMMU, Mar 19: In continuation to the drive undertaken by Election Authorities of J&K State, a team headed by Assistant Development Commissioner, Jammu was deputed by the District Election Officer, Jammu, which held a display event, in the District Court Complex, Jammu, for awareness of the voters with regard to use of EVM/ VVPAT Machine for casting of the vote. In this display event the team of officer bearers led B.S. Slathia, Sr. Adv. President of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, and various members of the Association, besides the general public, participated and witnessed the said event. It is stated that the new system introduced by the Election of India has a VVPAT which has a transparent window which shows the printer paper slip having, name, serial number and election symbol of the concerned candidate for seven seconds to the voter. Slathia and various other members, on trial basis while participating in the event, cast their votes by making use of the EVM machine and felt satisfied about the manner and method of newly introduced system of the EVM/ VVPAT Machine, by the Election Commission of India. Slathia appreciated the Election Commission of India for introducing the VVPAT along with EVM for casting vote by the concerned voter in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in the country. |
