Early Times Report Doda, Mar 19: Three days 'National Fisheries Development Board-Hyderabad' sponsored training programme on "Freshwater Carp Culture" for the youths/fish farmers of district Doda was inaugurated today at KVK-HQ at Bhaderwah, under the guidance of Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST-J with the aim to attract more rural youths towards this economic venture. There were 50 participants from about 15 villages of district Doda, out of which 22 females and remaining males made their active presence. The programme was inaugurated with welcome address by Dr. Ravneet Kour, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK-Doda in the presence of Zia-Ul-Haq, Inspector/Fish Farm Manager, Gatha Fish Farm, Department of Fisheries, Govt. of J&K and the Scientists of KVK-Doda. Dr. Kour after a brief lecture on mandates of KVK and importance of this NFDB sponsored training programme, handed over the programme to Dr. AS Charak, KVK Scientist, who briefed about the schedule of the programme and introduced the role of NFDB in national fisheries development. Dr. Charak invited Mr. Zia-Ul-Haq for delivering his portion on overview of status & potential of fisheries in Doda district, different types of ponds & culture practices, Fisheries Department's activities and the Govt. supports/schemes for the fish farmers, etc. He also emphasized that fish culture practice is an economic business and the rural youth of Doda district should come forward to opt this venture. |
