Prof Gupta criticizes Nehru for Article 370
4/9/2019 9:18:36 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 9: Voicing serious concern over Hullaballoo being raised over the issue of Article 370 of the Constitution, the former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta observed that the sad situation being created over the contentious issue has once again vindicated that Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and even the great patriot Maharaja Hari Singh were in right and the Congress leader, Jawahar Lal Nehru was wrong. But it was an irony of fate that the patriotism was subjected to suffer immense. More so, the descendents of Nehru have learnt no lesson from the past blunders and follies. And they still continue to fiddle with problems, especially in Kashmir. Prof. Gupta, who is an author of a book, Article 370 -A Thorn, in a statement said that it was unfortunate that the Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru did not pay any heed to the protests of the great visionary nationalist even from within his own Govt, the then Law Minister, Dr. B.R Ambedkar but to appease his friend Sheikh Mohd Abdullah under erroneous considerations. The obnoxious provision of Article 370 in the House by approving the Consembly, was then piloted by another Minister, Gopala Swami Ayyanger. Nehru had assured the agitated members including Moulana Hassrat Mohani and other Nationalists that this was just a temporary provision which would wither away with passage of time. But in Jammu and Kashmir, the great visionary Pandit Prem Nath dogra did not agree with this assurance of Nehru by asserting that this parochial and sectarian approach would lead to more problems than any good but Pandit Dogra was dubbed as communal and an agent of dynastic rule (Rajwada Shahi) and he was subjected to jails and sufferings to his colleagues.
