SSA cooks without salary | | | M S Nazki
Early Times Report
Poonch, Apr 9: Cooks engaged under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) for cooking food for children in government schools on nominal salary have been denied wages for several months. The cooks said they are in need of immediate financial assistance to cope up with the domestic problems. "We have to get our wards admitted in schools but have no money to pay the fee," said a cook while talking to Early Times. They said that they come from far off places to earn livelihood but after discharging duties with sincerity and hard work, the salary is withheld. Chief Education Officer Poonch Vijay Kumar Bhagat told Early Times that the pending salary of cooks of SSA will be released soon and assured that there will be no further delay as the matter was already under consideration. Meanwhile SSA cooks have warned the higher ups that if their salary was not released by the end of this week, they will come on roads and launch agitation against authorities. |
