Is Dogra Swabhiman being used as mere election slogan?: Brig Gupta
4/9/2019 10:06:54 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 9: Taking to task the newly acquired concern of the opposition candidates for Dogra legacy and pride, Brigadier Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party in a press statement issued here said that their concern is confined to the elections and they like the Kashmir based parties are using the Dogras as a mere vote bank. The DSS candidate Ch. Lal Singh never bothered about the Dogras when he enjoyed the power as a four time MLA and two-time MP. He was a party to many anti-Jammu or pro- Kashmir partisan decisions taken by the Congress or Congress-NC combine but remained a mute spectator then.
The notification on issue of Dogra Certificate was unilaterally cancelled by Omar Abdullah under the pressure of Syed Ali Shah Gilani and other separatist leaders. At that time Ch. Lal Singh was a Congress MP and Raman Bhalla, Congress candidate from Jammu-Poonch was a minister in Omar's Cabinet but none of them protested. If they are so concerned about Dogra pride why did they not resign then, questioned Brig Gupta. Dogras are inconsequential for them before the lust of power, rued the spokesperson. Lal Singh has also raised the issue of levying 18% GST on the labourers (Pithu) working at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and tried to gain their sympathy. These are mere crocodile tears as Lal Singh was a party to this decision. "All decisions in the GST council are taken unanimously with the concurrence of all member states. This decision was also taken by the GST council with the concurrence of J&K government represented by then Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu and Lal Singh was a member of the same cabinet," exposed Brig Gupta.
