Unscheduled power cuts force industrial activities to come at stand still: BBIA | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 3: Expressing serious concern over frequent and unscheduled power cuts, the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has lamented the Power Development Department for its failure to provide uninterrupted power supply to the industrial units. The issue was raised in a meeting of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held under the presidentship of Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Tarun Singla, Sr. Vice President, Ajay Langer Vice President, Viraaj Malhotra General Secretary, Rajesh Jain Secretary and Vivek Singhal Treasurer BBIA & other members. The members present in the meeting raised serious concern as Power Development Department has failed to supply 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to industrial sector. The members said that while a regular cut of two hours from 8 pm to 10 pm is in force, the unscheduled power cuts are also imposed with an excuse of shortage of power due to peak hours power load on the system resulting in huge financial losses to the industrial units as they have no other option but to use DG Sets. The situation is more serious due to unscheduled power cuts in the day time citing the reason of overheating of transformers as the department has no cooling equipments installed in the Grid Stations which is very surprising. Due to unscheduled power cuts the most sufferers are the industrial units engaged in the manufacturing of plastic goods, steel products and other related products as heavy loss of material in process reported and unit holders have no option but to stop the production resulting in standstill of the industrial activities. BBIA appeals to Governor and his Advisor to intervene into the matter and issue necessary directions to the concerned officials to ensure the uninterrupted power supply to industrial sector. |
