| Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections to be held later this year, confirms ECI | | |
New Delhi: In a major development, the Election Commission of India has announced that Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held later this year. The polls are expected to be held once the Amarnath Yatra concludes.
The development comes just a few days after BJP president Amit Shah took over as the Union Home Minister in the Modi Cabinet 2.0 and following Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik's visit to New Delhi during which he briefed Shah about the security situation in the state which has been under the President's rule since December 2018.
