Early Times Report
Jammu, June 6: Seeking re-organization of Jammu Municipal Corporation, their regularization and highlighting other demands, members of JMC Safai Karamcharis Union, Drivers & Cleaners Union, Sanitary Supervisor Employees Union and Clerical Staff of JMC held a joint protest, here today.
The protesting employees, led by Rinku Gill, president of Civic Safai Karamcharis Union, staged a protest dharna amidst raising of slogans in support of their demands.
They were demanding re- organization of Jammu Municipal Corporation, regularization of Contractual Drivers, who have been serving JMC for the last 13 years, 200 Safai Karamcharis, Computer Operators and Technical Assistants/ Surveyors, filling up of vacant posts of Safai Karamcharis, scrapping of Outsourcing of Wards and NGO system, DPC of all cadre employees, sanction of new Municipal Colony for Safai Karamcharis and sanctioning of holidays for SKCs .
Also demanding one-time attendance or allotment of daily allowances, the protesting union members said that some SKCs, who remain off duty between 11 am to 4 am do not go back to their home as they live far away from the ward where in they are deployed by JMC and in this way, they stay in their wards for 12 hours a day. Even the SKCs, who go back to their home after the first shift, have to come back for the second shift, for which they spend a lot in traveling. "Therefore we request the authorities to kindly allow SKCs to work for one time shift which should be extended to continuous for 8 hours or daily allowances be sanctioned in favour of all field staff and particularly SKCs," they stressed.
Amongst others, who addressed the protesting employees, included Guizar Masih, Shehazi Gill, Manga Matoo, Ashwani, Jewels Sotra, Sunny Gill, Camres David, Bansi Lal, Vivek Sood, Jung Bhadur, Kulwinder, Rajesh, Rakesh, Sabha, Bagicha, Nariender Singh, Dev Raj, William Sotra, Bittu, Sham Pal,Vicky Lawrance, Thomos, Avinash and Sabhi.
