Two SPOs-turned-terrorists among four killed in encounter in J&K’s Pulwama | | | Srinagar: Security forces have succeeded in killing at least four terrorists in an encounter that broke out in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir late on Thursday evening.
Weapons and warlike stores, including three AK series rifles, have also been recovered
A police official said that the encounter took place in Panjran Lasipora area of Pulwama district. Incidentally, two Special Police Officers (SPOs), who were reported missing from Pulwama police station, are among the four terrorists killed. Both of the neutralised SPOs who had decamped with their weapons earlier on Thursday morning, joined the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and were killed by security forces the same evening.
The four terrorists killed by the security forces have been identified as–Ashiq Ahmad of Panjran Pulwama, Imran Ahmad of Arihal Pulwama, Shabir Ahmad of Tujan Pulwama and Salman Khan of Uthmula Keegam Shopian (both deserted SPOs).
According to the Army, weapons and warlike stores, including three AK series rifles, have also been recovered.
The police said that though the encounter has ended, a search operation was still underway in the area. |
