| Over 10,000 people of 3 Udhampur panchayats suffer for want of foot bridge | | |  Arun Jasrotia

Udhampur, July 1: Thirty five years ago J&K Govt sanctioned a foot bridge over Chai Nallah in Chai -kuh Panchayat Kuh area of district Udhampur but till date the said foot bridge awaits completion. "Everyday people risk their lives to cross the river. The new bridge will be a lifeline for us, but , the bridge is still incomplete", said Jattu Devi an Local. "We fail to understand what is forcing the authorities to delay construction of the bridge. People have to face immense hardships and authorities are not bothered about it," she said. She said that in rainy seasons it becomes difficult to cross the Nullah.
She added that during past year one person lost his life and many sustained injures after they fell into the nallah.
Another local Krishan Singh said that three schools fall in said area and students have to cross the Nallah. He added that we work as labourers and in night it's very difficult to cross the nullah. He added that the people want a foot bridge ugently. |
