Police registers 2 FIRs in Keshwan accident | 1 filed against PMGSY, other against docs/hospital staff | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report kishtwar, July 1: Following massive public outrage over the dilapidated condition of Keshwan road which led to the gory accident on Monday when a mini bus skied of the road resulting in the death of 35 persons, the police has registered two different FIRs. As per details available with "Early Times", the first FIR (No. 129/2019 U/S 279, 337, 304 A) was registered against the driver of the vehicle (now dead), owner of the vehicle, and the PMGSY for its failure in maintaining road surface that caused the accident. The second FIR (No. 131/2019 U/S 304 A) was registered against the doctors, hospital staff including the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kishtwar and CMO Kishtwar for their failure in providing timely aid to the injured that led to the death of many injured who were shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar for treatment. The FIR against the doctors, hospital staff and senior officials of the Health department was registered following a written complaint submitted by the public of Kishtwar through social activist Naseer Ahmed Bagwan. The FIR was registered after SSP Kishtwar, Shakti Pathak, gave an assurance to the agitating traders and the people who demanded registration of FIR against doctors and other Health officials for ignoring the public services by attending the private clinics instead of attending the injured at hospital. "We called off the protest on the assurance of SSP Kishtwar who assured us that FIR will registered against them as demanded by the people," said political and social activist Umar Malik. Malik said that the public will ensure that FIR will be taken to its logistic conclusion. Speaking to "Early Times" Naseer Bagwan said that the doctors were late by more than one and half hour and that the delay on part of the doctors led to death of many injured persons whose life could otherwise be saved. He said that even after hearing about the accident, the doctors posted at District Hospital Kishtwar preferred to attend their clinics instead of rushing to the hospital for official duties. He said that it took around one and half hour to shift the injured patients from accident spot and that even after reaching the hospital the doctors were late by more than one hour. "Everyone was informed about the accident by administration. Then why were doctors not ready at hospital when were brought there? Isn't one and half hour sufficient time for these doctors to reach hospital," asked Naseer Bagwan. He said that doctors and medical shop owners had a nexus as poor people are being duped by prescribing the medicines that are only available at the particular shops. He said that the corruption is at its peak in District Hospital Kishtwar and other health institutions of the district with active support of CMO Kishtwar. |
