Uttam Nagar, Greater Jammu lack basic amenities | Munish Gupta’s reach the people campaign continues | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 3: Accusing successive MLAs of Congress or BJP of apathy, the residents of Uttam Nagar and Greater Jammu said that they deliberately overlooked our civic amenities and made hollow slogans regarding development. Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta who would be contesting upcoming assembly election from the Gandhi Nagar constituency as an independent candidate today conducted extensively campaign in Uttam Nagar and Greater Jammu of Ward no 55. During the campaign, he met with people of all walks of life and put forth his vision before the people why he is contesting upcoming election from here and assured the residents all the problems who have been facing since the coalition government came to power, all of them would be addressed when he gets from the areas as independent. Dharshan Singh, Rahul Gupta and R P Singh informed Munish Gupta that our areas is reeling under acute shortage of basic amenities like road by lanes have turned dilapidated, drains clogged and heaps of garbage can be seen along the lanes due to absence of bins. “however, before election everybody have made promised that roads and by lanes would be constructed but after getting elected they forgot us and never visit here to take stock of problems during their tenure”, they said. “The main problems of the areas is that during the Congress regime, the former MLA declared that the areas would be identified with the name of Trikuta Nagar Extensional Sector 10 instead of Greater Jammu but after lapse of five years, the areas name is still not registered in revenue record not in Municipal record”, said Rahul Gupta. Vinod Saini, Kehar Singh and S K Sharma said that our drains have been clogged, safaikaramchari not come here regular to carry garbage, streetlights were installed here most of them lying dysfunctional, water supply is not reaching at its destination due to dilapidated pipes and in this regard, we repeated pleas before local councilor and even former MLAs but our pleas have yield nothing so far. Vinod Singh Katal, Deeepak Singh and Raman Lata informed that we were living in Chib Mohalla since long times but our main road has turned dilapidated, drains system collapsed due to overflowing drainage water flowing through the lanes. The former MLA Kavinder Gupta had promised that funds have been allocated to construct road but after lapse of years, nobody come here to start construction of road, resulting the manholes developed on it has become a threat for walkers and motorcycle riders. “There is no facilities to dump garbage, the residents of the locality are being forced to dump waste material and garbage in the vacant plots due to absence of bins”, said Jyoti Gupta. Kanta Devi, a septuagenarian is still not covered under old age pension. He had applied for the same facility years before at Social Welfare Office. She raised the issue before the former MLAs and incumbent cooperator but to no avil.
