5-minute one-on-one with PM; What did Dr Abdullah tell Modi? | | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 3: Even as the former Chief Minister and National Conference Patron Dr Farooq Abdullah led a three-member team of his party to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital, insiders said the senior Abdullah managed an exclusive word with the PM. Sources said whereas the meeting between Modi and the NC leaders lasted for around 20 minutes wherein the Kashmir leaders shared their views about the political situation in Kashmir and the need to safeguard the special status of the state, on the sidelines of the meeting, Dr Abdullah managed to hold a one-on-one with the PM. Sources said apart from informing Modi about the problems being personally faced by Dr Abdullah he told the PM that "Omar was a child who needs to be taken care of." Sources said Dr Abdullah discussed some confidential issues with the PM while as Omar Abdullah and Justice Hasnian Masoodi, who were also part of the three member team kept waiting outside the room. Sources said the five minute separate interaction was so confidential that the NC team didn't make mention of the development in its handout nor was conveyed to the party cadres. "The party has not been told about the secret meeting though everyone in the party is in the know of the matter, because it happened either moments before the scheduled meeting or moments afterwards," said source privy to the development. Source said meeting with the PM remained cordial that NC is hopeful that the meeting would "go a long way to improve situation." A senior BJP leader told Early Times that he was hopeful that their relations with the NC would improve further in the coming days and months. Despite repeated attempts the Abdullahs couldn't be contacted for comments. |
