Over 60,000 LPG cylinders distributed in Srinagar, reports of medicine shortage baseless: J&K admin | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 31: The Srinagar district administration on Saturday said that over 60,000 LGP cylinders have been distributed among customers in the last two weeks. The cylinder distribution was stepped up after the authorities asked the department to home deliver LPG cylinders across the district. This has come amid reports suggesting a shortage of basic facilities across Valley especially the health services. However, the administration has refuted these reports, asserting that all services including the health care services are functioning normally, urging people to not believe in "rumours and fake news". On reports of medical services being affected, the administration said, "Srinagar: Health Services functioning normally. Don't believe in rumours and fake news. 1. Nearly 5000 major surgeries have been performed in hospitals in Srinagar from August 5 till date." It added, "Besides the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences or SKIMS at Soura and the SKIMS Medical College and Hospital at Bemina, the surgeries have been performed in all associated hospitals of the Government Medical College or GMC Srinagar." Last week on Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik had addressed a presser on the situation prevailing the Valley and had said that phone connectivity across the region is being opened in a phased manner. "We are opening mobile phone connectivity in Kupwara and Handwara districts(of Kashmir), soon we will open connectivity in other districts as well," he said. In a major step towards normalcy in the region, Malik announced 50,000 jobs in state administration and promised to fill the positions in the next two-three months. Malik's press conference came a day after a high-level meeting was held under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to ascertain the situation in Kashmir. It's reported that deliberations were held upon extending central schemes in Jammu and Kashmir and ways to bring the situation in the state to normalcy. |
