Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 1: National Council Member S. Deep Singh, held a meeting here to discuss holding of BDC elections in Jammu and Kashmir in hush-hush manner and that too on party basis. Various speakers/ Party office bearers and activists expressed great dismay and wonder that soon after abrogation of Art. 370 & 35-A, all political leaders including former Chief Ministers have been detained, except BJP, and restrictions under section 144 RPC are still in force in valley and all political activities including public meetings, protests, Dharans are banned, the holding of elections for BDC Ombudsman on Party basis, is any body's guess that all this exercise is to help ruling Party at the centre. The speakers also pointed out that as per government figures as many 1057 Panchayats across the state have only one Panch or Sarpanch elected and have fallen short to form the quorum, the forceful push of Governor's administration to go ahead with BDC election process, is a clear signal to give benefit to only one political Party i.e BJP and that too when 50% of Blocks don't have regular BDO's. This is simply an exercise either to please the bosses, or to create an history for the names sake to earn back thumping or to manage release of central funds to be plundered like past political dispensations with nothing visible on the ground, they said. |
