Auto driver attempts bid on life after slapped Rs 25,000 fine by traffic police | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 6: An auto-rickshaw driver on Sunday attempted bid on life after he was slapped a heavy fine for violating ruled under new Motor Vehicles Act by traffic police here. Police sources said that one Sanjay Kumar, resident of Colonel Colony, Talab Tillo this afternoon made a bid on his life on the spot after he was fined by traffic police for violating rules in Patta Bohri area here. They said that he was fined Rs 25,000 following he exchanged heated words with traffic cops and in a fit of anger, he purchased a bottle of "phenyl" from a nearby shop and allegedly consumed it in full public view. He reportedly was also fined few days back but had not produced himself in the Court. He was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital where doctors treated him and his condition was stated to be stable. Meanwhile local shopkeepers later staged protest against traffic police, alleging harassment. |
