Private vehicles being used to ferry students unabatedly | 'Gross violation of Traffic Rules' | | Rajesh Tandon
Early Times Report
Poonch, Oct 4: Despite new Motor Vehicles Act, the private vehicles are being used for commercial activity for ferrying students unabatedly in Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri districts but the concerned departments seem to be least bothered to take punitive action against such traffic offenders. The parents and other social organizations have expressed serious concerned over the security lapses by these operators who use personal vehicles for commercial activity throwing traffic rules into wind. "There are no identification marks on such vehicles including Maruti Van, Ecco etc. due to which nobody can identify that these vehicles are carrying students. Even the parents, sometime can't anticipate the vehicle," said parents further adding that at least yellow strips should applied on these vehicles so that anybody can easily identify these vehicles. They further said that despite paying huge monthly transportation charges, the private vehicle operators don't drop students at their door steps due to which parents have to face difficulties. These vehicles are running unabatedly on road and violating traffic rules grossly but the traffic police deliberately overlooking such violations. Despite repeated attempts to contact SSP Traffic and RTO Jammu telephonically, they could not be available for their comments. |
