Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 6: A shocking incident from Samba district came to limelight as some girl students of the Government Girl Higher Secondary School Samba were beaten up by the Principal of the school reportedly in front of other teachers.
Here need to mention that the Government of India has been organizing various events regarding 'Beti Bachao Beti Padho' just to encourage parents and especially girls but it seem that management of the school does not agree with the above said slogans and tried to create a fear environment among the students.
Official sources, seeking anonymity, told that this incident took place on Saturday in the school when students were lined up outside the classroom by a teacher for not carrying books reportedly. And the same time Principal of the school was going nearby the classroom where students were stood. The Principal asked the teacher and students for the reason behind standing outside the classroom, as he came to know that the students were coming in the school without books for last few months, the student was beaten up by him allegedly and the incident's video went viral on social networking sites.
Sources further told that the students who were beaten up are belonging to poor families and they cannot afford all the books from the markets due to their high cost. Taking jibe on the various schemes launched by the governments for the betterment of the students, sources added that not all students get its benefits due to the lackadaisical approach of the concerned management.
Sources said that on the side the government school is not performing up to the mark and it is the major factor that the parents prefer private schools instead of the government school and other hands such type of incident will also tarnish the image of the government schools further.
When the matter was taken up with the Director School of Education Anu Radha Gupta said that suitable action shall be taken after completing an enquiry in this case.
Principal Girl Higher Secondary School Samba JK Raina was not available for comments.
