The Congress Party meeting which was attended by District President Kathua and Former Minister Manohar Lal Sharma, Former MLC Subash Gupta, Former MoS Girdhari Lal Chalotra and leaders from many blocks of Kathua District.
The first crucial meeting being held in District Kathua after the abrogation of Article 370 to discuss the names of candidates for the upcoming Block Development Election, however, the groupism with in the party once again came to fore when heated argument broke out between Dr Manohar Lal Sharma and State Secretary Kulbir Pathania over the party mandate for Barnoti Block of District Kathua,
On one hand, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma was lobbying to give Congress mandate to Brijeshwar Singh brother of Davinder Singh Bindu, who contested the two consecutive Assembly election on the National Conference ticket from Basohli Constituency and joined the Congress during 2019 Lok Sabha elections while on the other Pathania claimed that he was the right man for party mandate because he was State Secretary of Congress and having long term association with the party.
Sources privy to the meeting said that there war of words broke out between the two leaders in front of several senior leaders and party workers.
Sources further said that Dr Manohar Lal Sharma asked Pathania to get out from the venue of the meeting and he even asked his PSOs to throw him out from the venue on which Kulbir Pathaina got angry and shouted Congress is not your personal property.
Pathania said that Dr Manohar Lal was responsible for the poor performance of the Congress in district Kathua as he is unable to control the factionalism in the district unit of the party which resulted in party's debacle during the local body as well as Lok Sabha polls.
