Anantnag, Oct 6: Terrorists on Saturday late evening opened fire at a former People's Democratic Party worker in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, leaving him injured, police said. Sajad Hussain Mantoo was shot at by the terrorists at his house in Kokernag area of Anantnag, they said. Mantoo received bullet injuries in his abdomen and thigh and was rushed to the district hospital, the police said, adding that his condition is stated to be stable. The reason behind the attack is not known yet, a police official said. Meanwhile, a group of miscreants on Saturday late evening caused damage to two trucks in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. As reports, a group of micreants started pelting stones on vehicles playing on Anantnag- Kulgam road. "Two truckers who had arrived in the area to load fresh fruit (apples) for ferrying to outside the state were targeted in Qimoh area of Kulgam district," a police officer said. He said that the two trucks have suffered damages as the miscreants attempted to put them on fire. SSP Kulgam Gurinder Pal Singh told media that a case has been registered against the miscreants. However, the situation in Anantnag and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir by and large continues to remain peaceful. On Sunday, Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor, K Vijay Kumar on Sunday visited Anantnag district of South Kashmir and chaired a high level meeting at Dak Bungalow Khanabal. The Advisor also met a dozen public delegations, Panchayat members and Municipal councilors. Talking to media, Advisor said that due to certain reasons, pace of developmental projects got delayed. |
