Rumour mongers, drug peddlers will be dealt with heavy hands: DIG Vivek Gupta | | | Rajesh Tandon

Jammu, Nov 26: DIG Poonch- Rajouri range and incharge of Jammu, Samba, Kathua range, Vivek Gupta said that police is very strict against rumour mongers who are spreading rumours about restoration of internet services on particular date in Jammu region. While talking to Early Times correspondent Rajesh Tandon in an exclusive interview, the DIG Gupta said that State is on path of peace and police is making all efforts for maintaining communal harmony in the region. "We have been receiving complaints about circulation of fake news claiming restoration of internet service on a specific date on social media in the region but fact is that government has not taken any decision in this regard till date," DIG said. He further said that police have been assessing all developments and any decision regarding restoration of internet services will be taken by the government only. On being asked about the rising drug abuse in the region, DIG Vivek Gupta said that no leniency will be adopted by the police and strict action will taken against the people involved in drug abuse. "We have been creating awareness among the people particularly among the youth to stay away from drug abuse and asking them to remain vigilant about such people who are working as drug peddlers," he said.
