Foundation day of Kisan Sabha to be held on Jan 11 | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Jan 8: President of Kisan Sabha Hari Chand Jalmeria advocate informed that said that the Kisan Sabha has been celebrating its 40th foundation day on January 11 in meeting held at tehsil Billawar. Kisan leaders from all districts of Jammu Province and also from adjoining Punjab have been invited to participate. Besides deliberation on the issues affecting the farmers and passing some important resolutions, the services of members of the Sabha during the past four decades shall be highlighted. Cultural programme shall also be part of the Kisan Samelan. Jalmeria has added that the farmers in J&K remain unorganized and have faced discrimination during the past 70 years of planned development. Farmers comprise major section of society and are the back bone of economy but remain neglected. Their share in allocation of funds for concerned sectors like agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry etc. is deplorable. In the fields of education and employment, they are lagging behind. They are left at the will of the vagaries of nature. The uncertainty is forcing them to leave farming and sell lands for use in non-agriculture sectors. This would threaten food shortage in future. |
