Bovine smuggling bid foiled; 17 animals rescued, one arrest | | |  Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Feb 18: Continuing its drive against the menace of bovine smuggling Ramban Police foiled yet another such bid by tracing and apprehending one truck carrying bovine animals and arresting the driver. Giving details of the incident, a Police official said that on a specific information, a truck bearing registration no. JK 14-3771 was signalled to stop at Chanderkote Naka point but the driver tried to accelerate the speed in order to flee away. The alert cops chased the vehicle, stopped it and put to thorough search. During checking/search, 17 bovines were found loaded without permission with the aim to transport them towards Kashmir. Truck driver namely Mohd Latif son of Ali Mohd resident of Chenani, district Udhampur has been arrested. In this regard case FIR No. 07/20 U/Ss 188 IPC and 11 PC Act stands registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation taken up to ascertain the backward and forward linkages. The rescue operation took place by a team of Police Station Chanderkote headed by Station House Officer (SHO) CHanderkote Nazir Ahmed under the close supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramban Sanjay Parihar and overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Haseeb-ur- Rehman. |
