DB dispose of PIL regarding abolishment of SIC with direction to UT Govt | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 17: A Division Bench of J&K High Court Srinagar wing Comprising Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today closed the Public Interest Litigation challenging abolish of State Information Commission. This petition, filed in public interest, revolves round the subject of repealing of the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009 in terms of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 and the fate of the cases pending before the State Information Commission which stands abolished on the application of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019. The grievance espoused in the petition is that as many as 364 cases, including 131 complaints and 233 appeals, were pending before the State Information Commission and that nobody knows as to what will happen to these cases since the Government has not issued any notification or order in this behalf suggesting the course to be adopted for dealing with all these matters. Senior Additional Advocate General, Division bench feels that no useful purpose can be achieved by keeping the instant petition pending and that same can be closed by directing the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to do the needful with reference to the grievance projected by the petitioners, as undertaken by the Senior Additional Advocate General. -JNF |
