Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 17: The district administration Kathua has established a health screening post at Lakhanpur to screen all the travellers, entering into Jammu and Kashmir but the way these travellers are being screened by the doctors is unlikely to prevent the possibilities of COVID-19 spread.
According to sources, all the travellers entering Jammu and Kashmir have been boarded off from the passenger vehicles and were screened by a team of doctors. "Hundreds of passengers have been asked to come in ques by the doctors for the checking. In view of getting themselves screened fast, they could be found huddled together, without maintaining a sizeable distance", the locals present on the scene revealed.
The photographs in possession of Early Times revealed that hundreds of passengers have been huddled together in ques for screening. "These passengers have been made to stand in ques during which, one can even listen the breathing of other co-passengers. The passengers don't stop talking while screening and not all the passengers have covered their mouth with N-95 masks", sources said.
The doctors could found suspects while screening but the process by which they have been screened, it would prove detrimental for other passengers. "On one hand advisories have been issued by the government to stop gathering but when passengers have been made to gather in large number at the screening points, which is not right as per health measures", a doctor said, adding that administration should take more steps and sensitize the public about proper screening at the points.
