Medical shops raided for selling masks, hand sanitizers at high price | | | Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Mar 17: Over dozens of medical shops were raided in the Mendhar and Balakote for allegedly selling masks and hand sanitizers at exorbitant prices, cashing in on soaring demand due to Coronavirus outbreak. “On complaints from the public, the raided about Dozens Of drug shops across the Mendhar sub division and stocks seized for selling masks and sanitizers at twice or thrice the retail price,”, sources said. A special team headed by Block Medical Officer Mendhar (BMO) Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan Naib Tehasildar ashfaq ahmed Fani SHO tahir yousaf Khan Tso Mendhar Bharat Bushan TSO Balakote Abdual Kabir Khan. “Though we have not come across any fake unit making them, in the Mendhar town , we have seized about 30 bottles of sanitizers, suspected to be fake from a storage place. We sent the bottles to lab for tests to check if they are genuine for use,” said BMO and imposed fine Rs 2300 Mendhar and Balakote 1300. A special drive has been initiated across the Mendhar area of Poonch district to check and regulate supply of masks and sanitizers to retailers, which have been selling them at higher rates due to their shortage amid rising demand. |
