JKPCC appeals govt to clear national highway of debris, boulders

JAMMU, Mar 19: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) spokesperson and former legislator Ashok Kumar has urged upon the government of Jammu and Kashmir UT that huge debris and big boulders occurred due to heavy landslides on four lane National highway from Udhampur to Banihal should be removed immediately as public of Ramban district have been facing lot of difficulties.
"Dozens of people have lost their valuable lives due to negligence by construction companies and district administration", he said.
Ashok further said that there have been protract traffic menace on National highway from Udhampur to Banihal on the account of non-clearance of huge debris and Boulders in NH-44 highway. Four major problems have been forged by mismanagement of concerned authorities such as frequent traffic menace, heavy landslides, air pollution and ecological imbalances in river Chenab. These disturbances have further created heavy clouds of dust causing many respiratory diseases for the people of Ramban. Some precautionary measures must be taken as it is a human rights violation, he said.
Different construction companies such as Gammon ltd., HCC, BCC and other contractors have created the mismanagement and negligence in this four lane National Highway' construction project. Due to their inauthentic survey and improper planning, and also mismanagement by District Administration, masses across the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir have faced lot of difficulties, many people have lost their lives in recent past, he said.
