Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 19: The Union Government which is very much concerned for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley is contemplating a concrete formulla in this regard which will be put into exercise after May this year.
According to sources Modi Government is very much particular for return of displaced Pandits to Valley with honour and dignity to restore the pluralistic culture of Kasmir and the formula in this regard will be put into practice from month of May this year. Sources said Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on the job and he has discussed the every pro and con of the formulla with senior officers of his Ministry and LT. Governor J&K in this regard
Sources said many options for rehabilitation of Pandits are before the Union Government which includes the homeland as demanded by Panun Kashmir.
Even the settlement of Pandits at one place within Valley is another option before the Government. While settling them on district headquarters can not be ruled out. Though majority number of Pandits favour Home land or one place settlement and final decision in this regard will be taken in consultation with Pandit leadership, sources added.
It may be recalled that recently a delegation of Global Kashmiri Pandit Dispora (JKPD) met Union Home Minister under the leadership of Surinder Kaul. Delegation discussed the return and rehabilitation issue of Pandits leading an exiled life outside the Valley for last over three decades now.
However, they could not get a positive response from the Union HM who reportedly said that if Pandits are settled at a single place what will happen to other districts.
Sources said the Pandit leaders had no convincing reply to that. However, Home Ministry, sources said has decided to exercise on every option and seek community feedback and also take the community leadership in to confidence.
Sources said presently Home Ministry officials are working on formation of blue print in this regard which will be made public, sources added.
