Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 19: About 20 teams of doctors on Thursday conducted door-to-door inspection in the neighborhood of the woman, who tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, in downtown Srinagar, where intensive ‘inch-by-inch’ sterilization was carried out early Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, authorities have decided to test all passengers who travelled to Srinagar with the coronavirus-infected woman on March 16.
Official sources said that 20 teams of doctors visited Khayama, Muawirabad, Khanyar and its adjacent areas. “The teams interacted with the locals to ascertain if they had met the infected woman,” they said.
They said the medical teams - each of which comprises three professionals including a doctor - was well-equipped with personal protective gear and items and diagnostic equipment to ensure safe conduct of the exercise and correct investigations as part thereof. “The exercise had become inevitable as the woman had reportedly met a large number of people after arriving back home from the pilgrimage,” they said.
The medical teams went to all houses within 300-meter radius surrounding the house of the infected person and conducted relevant investigations to ascertain whether someone had come into contact with the infected person, they said.
They said all passengers, who were onboard the flight with the victim, will be asked to report for tests. “We are collecting the details of all the passengers, about 100 in number. Health department will collect their samples and it sent for testing,” they said.
