Cross-border shelling rages in north Kashmir's Uri sector

BARAMULLA, Mar 26: Pakistan army resorted to heavy shelling by mortars along the Line of Control today in Hajipeer sector of Uri tehsil, prompting befitting reply from the opposition.
A senior police official said that, the Pakistani troops used small arms to target army posts in the sector in Baramulla district at around 12:50 pm.
Indian troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) have retaliated resulting in heavy exchange of fire which was going on till afternoon in the Hajipeer sector of Uri areas, the police official said.
However sources said that, the people ran for safety in the nearby areas and some hide themselves behind the big rocks, adding the soldiers that are regularly manning the fence also responded the fire strongly and after that there was lull for some period of time.
There were no immediate reports of any collateral damage from either side, but yes there was a panic in the Uri sector today, sources informed early times.
However sources said that, there was panic all over the area, after fire was exchanged from both the sides in Hajipeer sector, the firing was on till 1:10 pm in the afternoon today.
Sources further informed that a residential house of Mohammad Ishaq S/o Ali Mohammad Dader R/o Churanda Ward No 5 partially damaged in the cross border firing that took place today in the afternoon.
Meanwhile a local resident of Uri Nazir Khatana said that, it is very unfortunate that both the countries exchanged fire at that time when the whole world is fighting with the deadliest diseases covid-19 including of India and Pakistan where some deaths have been also reported.
This is not the time to fight with each other with bombs and guns, but to combat with Covid-19; the disease has not only scared these two countries but the whole world, said another local resident of Uri Jan Mohammad Khan.
