JAMMU, Apr 17: A social worker from Bhour Camp area alleged that government ration meant for poor people of the area has been diverted by the concerned Tehsildar. However, contradicting the claims, the Tehsildar Jammu South said that ration kits were provided to needy family. The social worker, Sanchit Sharma alleged that rations meant particularly for Bhour Camp, where 14 families of migrant labourers are also residing, diverted and distributed in Gangyal. “The ration was sent here by district administration on my request but the Tehsildar diverted it,” he alleged. “I have taken up the matter with the Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and other officers but no one is listening to us,” the social worker said, adding that he has also spoken to OSD to Minister of State (MoS) in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, in this regard. However, when contacted, Tehsildar Jammu South Manjeet Singh, said that no one has been neglected while distributing ration kits. “Ration being provided by the administration is being judiciously distributed. There are thousands of needy people and migrant labourers, and we are trying to reach everybody in hours of Coronavirus pandemic. The higher authorities are aware about distribution of ration, and the ration in not being issued on the basis of area (villages or lanes) it is being issued for entire Tehsil which comprises of over two dozen villages,” he said, adding that some people are trying to be hero by distributing Government ration, but the ration is not for political purposes.
