Covid: Jammu Dy Mayor, Ex-MLA among three booked for "not maintaining" social distancing

Jammu, Apr 18 Jammu Police on Saturday booked Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma, Former BJP MLA Rajesh Gupta and Corporator Sandhya Gupta for "not maintaining" social distancing during distribution of ration.
Police sources here said that the Jammu Municipal Corporation, Deputy Mayor, (BJP Corporator), who was former BJP Mahila Morcha head on Saturday along with Corporator Ms Sandhya Gupta and Ex MLA Rajesh Gupta assembled at Hari Theatre, Raghunath Bazar premises with around 300 beneficiaries.
"They were requested to follow the advisories but the leaders flouted all the norms and put many lives on risk by not maintaining the social distancing," police here said.
They added that despite directives issued by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Health Department to follow the guidelines, the "social distancing" was not maintained following which police intervened.
"Acting on a complaint lodged by Tehsildar, who is the city magistrate, an FIR was lodged against them," police sources said adding that the leaders also allegedly misbehaved with cops in duty, who requested them to follow the guidelines.
A case under FIR number 24/20 under section 188, 353, 269, 270 has been registered at Police Station City, Jammu.
