Arrest of BJP Sarpanch for supporting terrorists exposes party’s strategy in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 2: Arrest of a party Sarpanch by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with supporting terrorist has exposed BJP’s policy to induct anyone in the party in Kashmir Valley- without checking credentials of the new entrants. NIA- which is probing the police-militant nexus in Kashmir, has arrested a BJP Sarpanch from South Kashmir two-day back- in connection with the arrest of tainted police officer Davinder Singh along with the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in January. The investigating agency has arrested Tariq Ahmad Mir of Maldeera village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district for providing logistic support to militants in Jammu and Kashmir. An NIA official said Mir was in touch with Davinder Singh, the suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police. Although NIA has not revealed political association of Tariq, it is known to everyone that he belongs to BJP. Tariq was arrested for his alleged role in providing logistic support to terrorists. He has taken into police remand for six days. Tariq had provided support to militants in Kashmir on several occasions. Since 2014 after BJP first time attained power at the Centre, leadership of the party opened floodgate for the entry of anyone from Kashmir Valley in the party fold. Some central leaders established direct contact with Valley based leaders of Kashmir Valley by ignoring local leaders who had demanded that credentials of all new entrants should be checked. Credible sources said that a couple of local leaders on the directions of some central leaders, who have ‘weakness’ of Kashmir Valley, have started blind enrollment in Kashmir Valley only to give a message that their policy in Kashmir is giving positive results. |
