PHEEUF threatens to resume agitation, seeks redressal of demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 14: Reminding the present government of Jammu Kashmir UT about the unresolved demands of the field and operational staff of PHE department, the PHE Employees United Front (PHEEUF) said today that despite making assurances with the Front to address the issues of the employees not even a single demand has been conceded till today. Addressing a press conference here today, the Front leaders including Thakur Bakshi Singh, Subash Verma, Kulwant Singh, Bhanu Sambyal, Ravi Hans, Hoshiar Singh and others warned the UT govt that if the demands of the employees are not conceded by June 18 the PHE Employees United Front will be forced to restart the agitation from June 19 onwards wherein it will hold protests in all the districts in first phase and next course of action will be announced on protest day. They said that it may be recalled that the Commissioner Secretary of PHE/Irrigation and Flood Control department on the behalf of the state higher authority had made commitments with the PHE Employees United front during Kaam Chhodo Hartal held on February 24. The strike was organized to address the long pending demands of PHE employees particularly the regularization of Daily Rated Workers who have served the department for more than 26 years, disbursement of month wise wages, abolition of illegal condition of 12 months wages drawn, implementation of Central Minimum Wages Act in Jammu Kashmir UT and holding of DPC meeting in time frame but not a single demand of the workers has been solved so far. They further expressed that they have nothing to do with the fresh and direct recruitment drive of the UT government because issue of Daily Wagers is totally different because they are already govt employees and demand is for their regularization.
