SRINAGAR, June 14: As four more COVID-19 affected patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours the death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 59. At the same time 163 fresh cases of the virus were reported today.
Reports said that while three COVID-19 patients died in Kashmir valley one such person died in the Jammu division. While two persons died in the late hours on Saturday the two others died during the course of day today. The fresh casualties were reported from Baramulla, Nowgam, Kupwara and Gandhi Nagar.
In the meantime, 163 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported today. Shopian reported 45 cases followed by Pulwama 33 cases, Kulgam 16 cases, Budgam 11 cases, Srinagar 10 cases, Kupwara nine cases, Samba eight cases, Jammu and Doda six cases each, Anantnag five cases, Kathua four cases, Baramulla, Bandipora and Udhampur three cases each and Rajouri one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 163 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 28 from Jammu division and 135 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 5041. Also, four COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and three from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 120 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 23 from Jammu Division and 97 from Kashmir Division. It said that out of 5,041 positive cases, 2,593 are active positive, 2,389 have recovered and 59 have died; seven in Jammu division and 52 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 2, 66,163 test results available, 2, 61,122 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 2, 35,200 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,634 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in Hospital Quarantine, 2,593 in hospital isolation and 52,682 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 39,201 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Kulgam has 631 positive cases, 285 active positive, 338 recoveries, eight deaths; Shopian has 538 positive cases, 239 active positive, 294 recovered, five deaths; Srinagar has 524 positive cases, 353 active positive, 158 recovered, 13 deaths; Baramulla has 515 positive cases, 338 active positive, 166 recovered, 11 deaths; Anantnag district has 489 positive cases, 108 active positive, 376 recovered, five deaths.
“Kupwara has 397 positive cases, 106 active positive, 287 recovered, four deaths; Pulwama has 245 positive cases, 210 active positive, 33 recovered, two deaths; Bandipora has 239 positive cases, 64 active positive, 174 recovered, one death; Budgam has 239 positive cases, 124 active positive, 112 recovered, three deaths and Ganderbal has 61 positive cases, 21 active positive, 40 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 273 positive cases, 132 active positive, 137 recovered, four deaths; Ramban has 195 positive cases, 140 active positive, 55 recoveries; Kathua has 159 positive cases, 88 active positive, 71 recovered; Udhampur has 158 positive cases, 118 active positive, 39 recovered, one death; Poonch has 104 positive cases, 74 active positive, 30 recovered.
“Samba has 99 positive cases, 70 active positive, 29 recoveries; Rajouri has 66 positive cases, 53 active positive, 12 recovered, one death; Doda has 63 positive cases, 39 active positive, 23 recovered, one death; Reasi has 24 positive cases, 13 active positive, 11 recovered and Kishtwar has 22 positive cases, 18 active positive, four recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 5,041 positive cases, 1,777 have been reported as travelers while 3,264 as others.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
