KALAKOTE, June 14: The NSS and Red Cross unit of Government Degree College, Kalakote, organized three days workshop on online poster making competition to celebrate World Blood Donor Day under the supervision of Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta. The themes of the competition were “Safe blood for all” and “Importance of sanitization in COVID-19”. The reason behind selecting these themes was to aware students about blood donation and its importance and also to encourage them to maintain proper hygiene to combat covid-19. Speaking on this occasion through Zoom, Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta made aware the students about the importance of this day and importance of donating blood. He said that world blood donor day is observed every year on 14th June. The purpose behind, why this day is celebrated, is to promote blood donation among people and to make them learn the benefits of donating blood. By donating blood, you are not only saving someone’s else life but also keeping your own body in a good state, he added. Prof (Dr) Gupta, Principal of the college, lauded the active participation of each student. He also distributed E-certificate to all the participants. It is pertinent to mention here that Baljeet, student of GDC Kalakote, secured the first position in this competition. He has very creatively depicted the importance of Blood donation while Ashu Devi and Asif Karim bagged the second and third position respectively.
