UDHAMPUR, June 14: Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Govt of J&K, Talat Parvez Rohella paid a visit to Government Degree College Chenani to review the infrastructure and functioning of the institution. He was accorded a warm welcome by the staff and Principal of the College, Dr. Pragya Khanna, keeping in view all the precautionary measures and SoPs of the Covid-19 pandemic. At the onset, the Principal, after a formal welcome, apprised the Secretary about the existing infrastructure, the student strength, total staff and subjects offered at the College. While presenting the roadmap for the next five years, Principal of the College had a detailed discussion with the Secretary wherein while appreciating her idea of introducing the basic certificate course in Computers open for all students, remedial and extra tutorials for weak students, honing the writing and reading skill of the students, establishing the academia-industry linkages, he expressed that these exercise should be taken up by all colleges. The College has already started on with the research activities that are for the benefit of society in general and local community in particular. The Secretary, Rohella applauded the idea and while sharing his vision on advancing research in the Colleges, asked her to create a Vision Document for bringing up a Centralized ‘Hub and Spokes Model’ for Research at Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu wherein a centralized facility for conducting research by the faculty members on various fields of chemical, biological and allied sciences shall be setup and used for the purpose of innovative, groundbreaking and classical research by different colleges utilizing the facility, acting as spokes. |
