Minor girl dies of lightening strike in Surankote village

Poonch, June 28: A 9-year-old girl was killed and three others injured after a lightening struck at Manahai Mohalla in Buffliaz sector of frontier Poonch district in Sunday evening.
Reports reaching Early Times said that, a house belonging to one Master Abdul Ghani was struck by lightening this evening at Manahai Mohalla of Behramgalla village in Buffliaz sector. In the incident, a girl-child Uffaq Akhter (9) daughter of Abdul Ghani died on the spot while three others identified as Lafta Ghani (5) son of Abdul Ghani, Muskan Jan (10) daughter of Javaid Iqbal, Atija Aman (10) daughter of Mushtaq Ahmed received injuries. Upon intimation by locals, a police party from Behram Galla Police Post reached the spot and evacuated the injured to SDH Surankote for treatment even as body of the deceased girl was taken to PHC Chandimar for medico-legal formalities. Confirming the incident, DySP Surankote, Chaudhary Abdul Khaliq told Early Times that a rescue team was deputed to the spot after receiving information from the locals.
“One minor girl has died in the incident”, he said adding “three persons injured were immediately evacuated to SDH Surankote for treatment.”
