Amid face-off with China, Govt orders stocking of LPG for two months | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 28: Amid on-going face-off with China, the government has ordered stocking up of LPG cylinders for two months in Kashmir Valley and Kargil district of Ladakh has raised many eye-brows. This order of government has created anxiety among residents of Kashmir Valley as well as Ladakh. Director Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Kashmir has written a letter to an oil company for making stock of LGP for next two months. Described as a “most urgent matter”, the order mentioned, “to ensure sufficient stocks of the LPG in the Valley as the supply gets affected due to closure of the National Highway on account of landslips”. According to an order passed by the Director of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers, the oil companies should make adequate stocks of LPG that can last up to two months at bottling plants as well as godowns. It is for the first time that the administration has decided to stock up LPG cylinders at the peak of summer. Usually, such exercises are carried out in October-November when the harsh spell of winter would start in the Kashmir valley and affect the traffic on the highways. Meanwhile former chief minister and NC working president Omar Abdullah has tweeted, “Government orders are creating panic in Kashmir & unfortunately after all the lies & false assurances last year even if/when the government explains these orders hardly any of us will take the assurances at face value. That said they still need to explain these orders”. |
