Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, June 28: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal has ordered for an enquiry against the Executive Officer (EO), Municipal Committee (MC) Ganderbal after the officer was found facilitating construction of some illegal structures and remaining missing during demolition of one of illegal structures.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal has asked the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal to carry out a probe in the whole matter and submit the report within a fortnight to the office of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal. The Additional Deputy Commissioner has been asked to carry out an in-depth enquiry in the matter.
In the order number DCG/PS/138/2519-24, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal has written that his office has been receiving numerous complaints regarding illegal constructions within the municipal limits of the district. Whereas, one of the complaints regarding illegal construction of nursing home at Beehama, Ganderbal was reported and the EO MC Ganderbal was directed to stop the construction forthwith and report compliance, the order said.
“Whereas neither the report was submitted by the EO MC Ganderbal nor he paid heed to the instructions issued by the office vide order dated 26-06-2020 and whereas, in the meanwhile an illegal structure was being raised on the embankment of Nallah Sindh at main market Tawheed Chowk, Ganderbal,” reads the order.
The order further reads, “Whereas immediate action was this office for demolition of the said illegal structure and SSP Ganderbal, Tehsildar Ganderbal and EO MC Ganderbal was directed to accompany the undersigned and whereas the demolition drive was carried out under the supervision of the undersigned during late hours on 26-06-2020 and the illegal construction was demolished partially owing to late hours/darkness.” “Whereas, the EO MC Ganderbal in-spite of prior information did not attend the demolition drive which was supposed to be his prime responsibility; and whereas, the EO MC Ganderbal was again directed to demolish the left over portion of the said illegal structure on 27-06-2020 and report compliance by 11 AM sharp,” said the order.’
The order further reads, “Whereas, in-spite of accomplishing the task of demolition, the EO MC Ganderbal chose to remain absent from duty unauthorizedly on 27-06-2020; and whereas, this act on part of EO MC Ganderbal clearly indicates his callous approach towards performing his legitimate duties; and whereas it is felt expedient to initiate enquiry against the EO MC Ganderbal for dereliction and casual approach towards his duties.”
“Therefore keeping into consideration the above facts an enquiry is hereby ordered against the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Ganderbal for which Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal is appointed as enquiry officer who shall conduct an in-depth enquiry into the matter and furnish report within a fortnight,” reads the order.
